Hello Traveler's
Nippori is famous for it's fabric street, Nippori Chuo Dori and the Yanaka cemetery. Why a cemetery is a tourist attraction, I am not sure but the route was very interesting and many old buildings where scattered around the area.

Tabata Station | along the Yamanote Line | Japan Travel Tips
Hello Traveler's
Welcome, today I will introduce Tabata Station and the surrounding area, this is part of the series “along the Yamanote line” were I introduce all stations on the Yamanote line.
Tabata Station it’s about 17 minutes on the JR Yamanote Line from Shinjuku. This station opened in April 1896, this makes the station 126 years old and it was rebuilt between 2005 and 2008. An average of 45,116 passengers passing daily through the station. This is the size of Gotha in Germany or West New York Town in New Jersey. T
There is only one attraction and this is the Tabata Memorial Museum of Writers and Artists which is closed at the moment. According to the website it will be closed until end of October 2023 and as of beginning of September 2023, there is no reopening date at the moment.
On outstanding writer “The father of Japanese Short Stories” lived in Tabata, Ryūnosuke Akutagawa, he wrote In a Grove. The story centers on the violent death of young samurai Kanazawa no Takehiro, whose body has been found in a bamboo forest near Kyoto. The preceding events unfurl in a series of testimonies, first by passers-by, an auxiliary policeman and a relative, then by the three main protagonists – the samurai, his wife Masago, and bandit Tajōmaru – but the truth remains hidden due to the contradictory recounts given.
There is a map with a route to walk through Tabata writer village. .
The website is bilingual but I could not find out, if the museum is bilingual. Best is to check the website if you are interested to visit in the future.
What kind of town is Tabata Station? Well, the south exit of Tabata Station was used in the 2019 animate film “Weathering with you” directed by Makoto Shikai.
