Japan Autumn Niigata
We went on a trip to Echigo Yuzawa to see the autumn foliage in Japan. It is one of the best sightseeing spots in Japan for autumn leaves. In this large mountain area you have the choice between many resorts which are usually ski resorts and catering to winter enthusiasts. There is no question that #Naeba Ski Resort is one of the best autumn color spots in Japan and it is close to Tokyo. Easily reachable by Shinkansen and a 40 minute ride on a bus to Naeba Ski Resort.
Another good and entertaining viewing spot for autumn colors is #Yuzawa#Kogen, which is easily reachable on foot from Echigo Yuzawa Station.
The month of October is a good time to view autumn colors in Echigo Yuzawa in Japan.
Lake Towada, this gorgeous remote lake is a highlight for me on our travel to North Japan because of the surrounding nature. It invites the traveler to wander along the lake and the Oirase gorge. 800 years ago only wilderness surrounded this lake and the occasional visit of Japanese ascetic hermits. During the annual autumn colors lots of tourists visiting Lake Towada and Oirase Gorge.
Onsen are very popular in Japan and seaside onsen are rare. Aomori has a mixed seaside Onsen facing West for the perfect sunset. Close by is a beach made of 1000 stone tatamis, going further North to the tip of Aomori you will find wind farms overseeing beach forests. Come with me on a road trip to North West Japan
Blue Pond, Aomori - We are continuing on our journey to the north of Honshu, Japan, driving along the West Coast and turning East towards Lake Juniko or twelve lakes area located in Tsugaru Quasi-National Park. Thick forest lining the road and the scent of fresh, wet green leaves is filling the air. Cool wind is brushing our skin and we are enjoying our road trip up to lake Juniko. This blue mystical pond is worth a visit and if you are into hiking, this is the right spot to go.
End of July we made our way to the cooler North of Japan, traveling with the rainy season along the West Coast of Japan to the land of winds. This video is the next stop of our journey, after a day journey and a visit to the Oga Aquarium GAO.
We are staying one night at a Luxury Modern Japanese Inn close to the Oga Aquarium GAO. The view is to die for and it is so remote and secluded that you do not need to worry about anything. We are enjoying Kaiseki dinner and breakfast at this Modern Ryokan. The onsen has a panoramic view over Toga Bay. The next morning we are back into our car and driving along the West Coast to Aomori. Next stop will be Aoike, the mystical blue pond up in the highlands of Tsugaru Quasi-National Park.
End of July we made our way to the cooler North of Japan, traveling with the rainy season along the West Coast of Japan to the land of winds. This video is the next stop of our journey, coming from Tsuru-no-yu Onsen and driving to #Oga #Peninsula in Akita Prefecture #Japan. We have a short stop at Akita City to admire the Lotus pond. Shortly after we are stopping at the Roadside Station Tenno Greenland and a stunning view is awaiting us. Time flies and we are driving along Oga Peninsula coast (男鹿半島)to the Toga bay and visiting the Oga Aquarium GAO. Oga peninsula is a great escape from the busy streets of Japan Metropolitan areas and during Covid-19 outbreak to cautious approach on traveling. Still this amazing journey did not end here, in my next video I will introduce you to a Ryokan of dreams, the wind farms of North Japan and a marvelous coastline.
End of July, during the rainy season we went to Tsurunoyu Onsen which is one of eight hot spring baths that belong to Nyuto Onsenkyo which is located near the foot of Nyuto mountain in Akita. There are rumors that the onsen water has healing qualities. The Onsen derives its name from a hunter who saw a crane (Tsuru in Japanese)healing its wounds in the spring.
