An over 400 year old #Sukiya building, which was a retreat during the Edo Period from 1603-1868 for the feudal lords of the Aizu domain, will be the backdrop of my today's video. This historical building is our Japanese Inn and I will show you on how different is a Japanese Inn to a Western Inn. From accommodation, food and cleaning arrangements to souvenirs. As you might know, Onsen is big in Japan, especially sulfar onsen, this Ryokan has a 44C Fox Sulfur Onsen, a private onsen and a community onsen. Finding monkeys in snow areas is unique, more outstanding is their behavior, bathing in hot onsen water. This are the Japanese macaque monkeys and we visited them in the wild, believe it or not. We arrived from Switzerland and at that time (July 2021) the regulation was to stay 3 days in a #japanesequarantinehotel in Japan. apan quarantine 3 days I thought it is smooth sailing but I didn't like to be in the Japanese quarantine hotel or the feeling of being locked up. I usually love Japanese food but not in those three days. The PCR Test was well organized and the transfer. The room was functional and it has a nice view to Narita Airport. Exploring the capital of Switzerland & my journey home to Japan This is the last video of my journey home to Japan, I do have a few more videos about Switzerland but this will be a story of another time. Today I show you a walking tour through Bern and life Bears, yes you read right, Bears in the middle of the city of Bern. Since I have not prepared for a sightseeing tour, I was taken by surprise. We collected the tourist visa for my son for Japan and left a week later for Japan. However, nothing is smooth sailing in 2021. Our flight had a stop over in Vienna and of course they took us of the plane and we had to spent more time in Europe. Don't get me wrong, I love Europe but it was enough and I wanted to go home. In Japan we were questioned for 10 hours because of a misunderstanding. Then finally we were allowed to enter "Quarantine". All about my quarantine in my next video.

Liechtenstein and a Falconry

During my 6 weeks in Europe I came across this falconry in Liechtenstein and thought some of you might be interested. The little town of Malbun, which is a popular skiing area during winter has a Falconry with shows. Something I am interested in. My journey doesn't end here, no I will stay another 2 weeks until we can leave under lots of drama for Japan.

Singapore vs Dubai which is better Today, I will talk about Singapore vs Dubai which is better? Let’s compare Singapore and Dubai’s similarities and differences. I believe these two cities are perfect for comparison. Both stamped out the ground from almost nothing within a short time of period with skyscrapers and architecture to complete with. Dubai is part Middle East and part Asia, Singapore is Asia. I lived in both cities for long term, in fact 3 years in Dubai and 9 years in Singapore. My husband was my master in Dubai, that was a very strange feeling. From the top of my head comes to my mind 1. religion, 2. language and 3.weather. In Singapore the main religion is Buddhism in which Dubai main religion is 76% Islam. Singapore has a tropical rainforest climate with no distinctive season beside the rainy season in which Dubai has subtropical-arid with hot summers and warm winters. The climate is categorized as desert climate. Winter in January and two very hot months of July and August. Singapore’s national or official language is Malay in which Dubai it is Arabic. However in both countries you get easily around with English, it is not necessary to learn the official language. That is very important to feel comfortable in a country. 4. Cost of housing, we lived in a two bedroom apartment in The Greens and later in a Villa in Mirdif. Compared to Singapore I would say Dubai is more expensive. However, there is always a way to get a cheaper accommodation. We paid annually in Dubai approx. 100,000 AED to 150,000 AED, divide this by 12, let’s say 10,000 AED per month. Our apartment had a swimming pool etc., in SG$ this is around 3,660.00 SG$. Kitsune Udon - Prepare lunch with me! Kitsune Udon or Fox Udon is a very easy to prepare lunch. For me it is the first time, we usually have this when we go out. Fox Udon has it's name from the red color of the Aburage. I personally wouldn't call it red, more brownish but it comes close to the color of a fox. Recipe Kitsune Udon Soup Broth 1. Good dashi, I used Furidashi (it comes in little tea bags for 500 ml) 2. 1 Tbsp mirin 3. 1 tsp sugar 4. 1 Tbsp Soja sauce 5. A pinch of salt (I try to avoid using it) For Kitsune Udon 1. 2 servings udon noodles 2. 4 Aburage, aged fried tofu pouch 3. Green onions / spring onions 4. Shichimi Togarashi (Japanese 7 spices) 5.
